Grant in soul alms to westminster Abbey of a quit rent from a shop in [Old Fish St] payable to the warden of St. Mary's atta to find lamp. t. Henry III
[[[westch 356. Confirmation, in pure alms, by Mr Simon, son of Walter Black of London, to the Blessed Virgin, St Peter and the monks of Westminster, for his soul and those of his parents and kindred, of 2s. quit-rent in the Fishmarket of London, near St Paul's. The rent is due from a shop which Stephen de Syen holds, between the shop formerly belonging to Turold the Fishmonger and that of Hugh Palmer, measuring 84- feet in each direction and rendering 2s. to the king, and 3s. to the nuns of Ankerwyke. The quit-rent is due to the warden of the Lady Altar, to provide lights. [Temp. John]
Notum sit omnibus presentibus et futuris quod ego Magister Simon, filius Walteri Nigri, London', concessi et dedi et hac carta mea confirmavi Deo et Beate Marie et beato Petro Westmonasterii et monachis ibidem Deo servientibus, pro anima mea, patris et matris mee et parentum meorum, duas solidatas redditus quieti in piscenaria London' que est prope ecclesiam Sancti Pauli, videlicet: de scopa illa quam tenet Stephanus de Syen, que est inter scopam que fuit Turoldi piscenarii et scopam Hugonis palmerum; que quidem scopa continet octo pedes et dimidium in latitudine, et totidem in longitudine; et inde solvuntur domino regi duo solidi, et monialibus de Ankerwik' tres solidi; in puram et perpetuam elemosinam solvendas custodi altaris Beate Marie in eadem ecclesia ad lurninaria invenienda qui pro tempore fuerit, ad Festum Beati Michaelis, et non in alios usus. Et ut hec mea donatio et concessio rata sit et stabile permaneat, earn sigilli mei appositione corroboravi.
