Confirmation by Simon son of William of Hanslope, with the assent of Clarice his mother, to Lucy, widow of Richard of Barking, of all his land in the vill of Westminster, in Tothill Street and the curtilage adjoining it, which is of the fee of Avice of Longditch, namely the land formerly belonging to Geoffrey the priest of Tothill, which William of Hanslope held of John son of Edward, as half a messuage and lying between the land of Wlveva the laundress and that of Adam of Sunbury. Simon has restored to Lucy the charters concerning that land. Lucy will render 1 lb cumin annually to Simon, and 2s. 6d. to John Fitz Edward as chief lord of the fee, for the curtilage, concerning which Simon has restored the cirograph to Lucy, who will also provide for the abbot, one day in the year, a man to cut hay or gather fodder. Et sciendum quod nec ego Simon nec heredes mei aliquid amplius de prefata terra poterimus exigere nisi tantum prefatam libram cumini singulis annis termino statuto. Hec poterimus prefatam Luciam aliquo modo de prefata terra dehospitari causa nos, vel aliquem alium ibidem hospitandi. Prefata vero Lucia de prefata terra libere poten t de quocumque homine vel de quacumque femina voluerit heredem sibi constituere aut ubi voluerit assignare absque reclamatione vel contradictione mei vel heredum meorum, salva predicta libra cumini quam mihi solvet vel cui assignavero. Et ego Simon et heredes mei prefatam terram cum omnibus pertinentiis suis predicte Lucie et heredibus suis finabiliter warantizabimus contra omnes homines et omnes feminas per predictum servitium. Pro hac autem donatione et concessione et carte mee confirmatione dedit mihi prefata Lucia sex marcas argenti in gersumam.
