Confirmation by Geoffrey de Hanley to Peter of Ely, his heirs or assign, for his homage and service, of his messuage in the vill of Westminster, between the messuage of Robert Marinlli and that of Peter le Cho, which Geoffrey bought from William Cretun, chamberlain of Richard [Fitz Nigel], former bp. of London, to hold of Geoffrey and his heirs in inheritance, rendering him an annual rent of 1 lb. of cumin, and 2s. to the bp. of Salisbury. Peter gave him a gersum of 4 marks (£2. 13s. 4d.) [Temp. John]
Sciant presentes et futuri quod ego Gaufridus de Hanleia dedi et concessi et hac carta mea confirmavi Petro de Ely et heredibus suis vel cui
assignare, vendere vel legare voluerit, pro homagio et servicio suo, mesuagium meum cum pertinentiis in villa de Westmonasterio quod est inter mesuagium Roberti Marinlli' et mesuagium Petri le Cho, quod emi de Willelmo Cretun, camerario Ricardi quondam London' episcopi, tenendum de me et heredibus meis libere, quiete et hereditarie. Reddendo michi et heredibus meis annuatim unam libram cimini ad Natale, et duos solidos episcopo Saresbiriensi reddendos ad duos anni terminos, videlicet duodecim denarios ad Pascha, et duodecim denarios ad Festum Sancti Michaelis. Et ego Galfridus et heredes mei warantizabimus predicto Petro et heredibus -suis vel cui earn dare, vendere vel legare voluerit, predictum mesuagium cum pertinenciis contra omnes homines, Judeos et Christianos. Et pro hac donatione et concessione et carte mee confirmatione, dedit michi predictus Petrus quatuor marcas argenti de gersoma. Et in huius rei testimonio huic scripto sigillum meum apposui.
