Confirmation, in pure and perpetual alms, by Margery, daughter of Hugh de Fonte, to the monks of Westminster, to provide lights for the Lady Altar, for her soul and those of her predecessors, of 2s. rent in the vill of Westminster, which William son of Herbert and Edric of the Garden rendered to her former husband, Simon Hurell, and to her, for the tenement in that vill which she had of the gift and confirmation of her father Hugh. The rent is to be paid annually to the proctor of the altar. [Early 13C]
Sciant presentes et futuri quod ego Margeria flu a Hugonis de Fonte dedi, concessi et hac presenti carta mea confirmavi Deo et monachis Westmonasterii ad invenienda luminaria coram altari Beate Marie in eadem ecclesia duos .solidatos redditus in villa Westmonasterii, in puram et perpetuam elemosinam pro salute anime mee et omnium predecessorum meorum: illos videlicet quos Willelmus filius Hereberti et Edricus de Gardino solebant reddere Simoni Hurell', quondam viro meo, et michi, de quodam tenemento in eadem villa, et quos ego Margeria habui ex dono et confirmatione predicti Hugonis patris mei. Habendos et tenendos libere et quiete, integre et plenarie inperpetuum, et percipiendos per ipsum qui pro tempore fuerit prenominati altaris constitutus procurator ad duos terminos anni, videlicet ad Pascha et ad Festum Sancti Michaelis. Ego vero Margeria et heredes mei warantizabimus predictis monachis et procuratori memorati altaris qui pro tempore fuerit predictum redditum duorum solidorum contra omnes homines et feminas. Ut autem hec mea donatio et concessio et carte mee confirmatio rata et stabilis permaneat, earn presenti scripto et sigilli mei appositione corroboravi.
