Confirmation by Alice, daughter of John Buccuinte and widow of Henry Naget, to Jocelin son of Jocelin of Cornhill, of her whole land in the parish of St Michael, Cornhill, between the land which William of Pontefract held of the nuns of Clerkenwell, and that of William son of Nicholas, goldsmith. She also confirmed her whole land between that of the aforesaid William son of Nicholas and that of Agnes, sister of St Thomas [Becket] the martyr, which lands her father John Buccuinte gave her. Jocelin may hold or alienate these lands as he pleases, rendering ils. annually. Dislodgement prohibited; gersum of 16s. 4d. [Late 12C]
Sciant presentes et futuri quod ego Athelicia flu a Johannis Bocuinte, quondam uxor Henrici Naget, in viduitate mea et in ligia potestate mea, concessi et dimisi et presenti carta mea confirmavi Jocelino filio Jocelini de Cornhull' totam terram meam cum pertinentiis suis quam habui in parochia Sancti Michaelis de Cornhull' inter terram quam Willelmus de Ponte Fracto tenuit de monialibus de Clerkenéwell', et terram Willelmi aurifabri filii Nicholai. Preterea concessi et dimisi et hac presenti carta mea confirmavi eidem Jocelino totam terram meam cum omnibus pertinentiis suis, que est inter terram Willelmi filii Nicholai prefati et terram Agnetis sororis Beati Thome martin s. Quas videlicet terras cum pertinentiis suis predictus Johannes Bocuinte pater meus mihi dedit ac dimisit, scilicet, quicquid in hiis terris habui, in longitudine et latitudine et in rebus cunctis. Habendas et tenendas eidem Jocelino et heredibus suis vel quibuscumque illas dare, vendere, legare, aut assignare voluerit et heredibus eorum, de me et de heredibus meis finabiliter, in feodo et hereditate, libere, quiete, integre, bene, in pace; reddendo inde annuatim mihi vel heredibus meis pro omni servicio et exaccione et rebus cunctis undecim solidos sterlingorum ad quatuor terminos anni, videlicet: infra quindenam Festi Sancti Michaelis triginta et tres denarios; infra quindenam Natalis Domini triginta et tres denarios; infra quindenam Pasche triginta et tres denarios; et infra quindenam Festi Nativitatis Sancti Johannis Baptiste triginta et tres denarios, sine omni occasione et meskenning'. Et sciendum est quod ego Athelicia predicta, vel heredes mei, vel aliquis alius per nos, vel pro nobis, nullatenus poterimus dehospitare eundem Jocelinum sive heredes suos sive assignatos suos de predictis terris, vel de suis pertinenciis, causa nos vel aliquem alium hominem vel feminam ibidem hospitandi, nec amplius inde poterimus habere, exigere, capere vel clamare imperpetuum quam predictos undecim solidos per annum statutis terminis. Has quoque terras prenominatas cum omnibus pertinentiis suis integre ego Athelicia predicta et heredes mei finabiliter warantizabimus predicto Jocelino et heredibus suis vel quibuscumque illas dare, vendere, legare aut assignare voluerit, et heredibus eorum; et de omnibus demandis acquietabimus; pro eis per omnia respondebimus contra omnes homines et feminas per predictum servitium undecim solidorum per annum pro omnibus rebus.
