[Middx.] A. 1605. Grant by John, the prior, and the convent of Holy Trinity,
London, to William Vyel, citizen of London, of a yearly rent of 7*.
issuing from a tenement in the parish of St. Augustine, by St. Paul'y
churchyard, in exchange for the grant to them by Vyel of a yearly rent
of 5s. issuing from two shops in St. Mildred's parish in Bredstrate. If
they cannot obtain this latter rent they may distrain on the tenement in
St. Augustine's parish for the amount. Witnesses : Nicholas. Bat, Mayor
of London, Richard Picard and John de Norhamton, sheriffs, and others

[1253-4] Exchange between John prior and convent and William Viel, citizen, by which Holy Trinity quitclaimed to William 7s. p.a. of quit rent which he was accustomed to pay from a tenement once of Elias le Kant(er) in the parish of St. Augustine by St. Paul's churchyard; for which quitclaim William gave to the canons 5s. p.a. of quit rent from two shops in the parish of St. Mildred between the tenement that was of Nicholas le Juvene and the lane through which there is a way (per quam itur) opposite the church of St. Margaret; if the rent falls into arrears, the canons are allowed to take naam without any impediment and to distrain on the tenement [f. .113] in the parish of St. Augustine until they are satisfied; chirograph sealed; witnesses, Nicholas Bat, mayor, Richard Picard, John Norhamtone, sheriffs.]]]]]
