Rendering therefor yearly to the Prior and Convent of Merton 5s. In 25 Edward I son of Henry III.

I Richard de Chykewell citizen and baker (pistinarius) of London . . . . . a certain place of land with houses built thereon and with all its appurtenances which I had in the parish of St. Peter the Little (Parvi) London which formerly was of John de Lelham fenar' (? money-lender) and which is situated between the tenement of William Bernard dyer on the eastern part in breadth and my tenement on the western part and contains in the same breadth near the King's way of Tamesestrete gi ells of ell-measures (de ulnis ferreis) of the lord King of England without measured inches (pollicibus mensuratis) and towards the Thames it contains in breadth 81- ells and 2 inches and extends in length from the said King's way of Tamesestrate from the northern part to the water of the Thames on the southern part To hold the aforesaid place of land with the houses thereon with the wharf and all easements, improvements (? aprivamentis) and singular its appurtenances to the Abbot and Convent and their successors and to whomsoever or when they shall wish to give or in manner assign it of me, my heirs and assigns freely for ever Rendering therefor yearly to the Prior and Convent of Merton and their successors 5s. of silver namely at Easter 2S. 6d. and at the feast of St. Michael 2s. 6d. and to me, my heirs and assigns, 40d. sterling namely at Easter 20d. and at the feast of St. Michael 20d. for all other services, secular demands and all things For this grant the Abbot and convent have given me a certain sum of money in hand in gersumam Witnesses : Sir John Breton knight then keeper (custode) of the City of London, John de Sterteford and William de Sterteford then sheriffs of the same City, W.
