[? before 1193] Grant by William son of Ralph la Faiciet to German the Mercer of land which Robert le Chachepoll held and land which William Stalke held next the church of St. George in Eastcheap on the west; rent 2s. p.a. except 2d. that the grantor grants that German gives from the socage to the abbot of Chertsey (de socagio abbati Certesie); and the grantor and his heirs to have no claim to the land beyond the 2s. rent; [f. 54] gersuma 1 bezant; witnesses, Ralph Buccel, Andrew Bucherel, Richard son of Ranus [? Ranulf], Henry son of Ailwyn, William de Haverhull, John son of Nigel.
William Facetus granted this 2s. to Holy Trinity and handed over the above charter to the church when he became a canon of Holy Trinity and so German the Mercer paid 4s. p.a.
