388. Notification by Brichtmar of Haverhill that, with the assent of his son and heir, William, he has confirmed to St Peter of Westminster, in perpetual alms, 6s. annual rent from the land which Robert hosier holds of the fee of William Matel outside Ludgate. Robert and his heirs, or whoever holds that land, will pay the rent to the sacrist, to buy wine for masses. Brichtmar has willingly and devoutly granted these poor alms to the abbey for his soul and that of his wife Denise, who is buried there; for those of his son William and his wife Alice and their children, and for all his (Brichtmar's) ancestors and descendants, so that the monks may remember them in their prayers, and they may participate in all spiritual works of that church, as Abbot Walter and the convent granted in full chapter, and received them into confraternity.
