309. Quitclaim by Abbot William and the convent to Henry Fitz Reygner of 3s. rent at the gate of his house, which he holds of the abbey's chamber, in exchange for certain land near the white monastery of the Holy Innocents towards the Thames. [1191 x 1200]
Noverint omnes ad quos presens scriptum pervenerit quod ego Willelmus, Dei gratia abbas Westmonasterii, et totus eiusdem loci conventus relaxavimus et quietum clamavimus Henrico filio Reygneri et heredibus suis inperpetuum tres solidatas redditus ad portam domus sue quas de camera nostra tenuit et warantizabimus in escambium cuiusdam terre prope album monasterium Sanctorum Innocentium ex altera parte, scilicet versus Tamisiam. Que terra versus vicum habet in latitudine xxxj aune; in medio xxxvij aunes, et versus Tamisiam xxxiiij aunes; in longitudine centum et deus' aunes. Predictus autem Henricus warantizabit nobis terram predicti escambij contra omnes homines et contra omnes feminas. Et ut hoc ratum et firmius permaneat sigilli nostri apposicione roboravimus. Hiis testibus: Thebabaldo senescallo nostro; Magistro Waltero de London', Penthecoste de Wanleswrth' ; Rogero Enganeth; Ricardo portario; Stephano de Berkinge; Jacobo hostiario abbatis ; Johanne pincerna abbatis, et multis aliis. Et hec sunt nomina illorum qui terras predicti escambii tenuerunt et quietas clamaverunt in curia domini regis cum uxoribus et heredibus suis inperpetuum pro octo marcis quas propter predictam terram acceperunt, scilicet, Ansgod le corveser et Bertelmeu le fiz Godwine.
