indenture
demise for life by gregory de roqesle and nicholas de winchester, wardens of london bridge, with the consent of ‘sir; martin, chaplain, john the clerk, etc., to brother john de brockele, for his sustenance, of the manor of leuesham and the lands in estgranewic appertaining thereto; in consideration of the annual payment of 50s, the said brother john to maintain the houses , mill etc., in good condition and to restore them with the stock and its value in money, viz., 3 horses, price 45s; 6 oxen pr £4. 10. 0; 2 brass pots pr 8s; 2 brass pans pr 2s; 1 possenet pr 8d; 1 washing basin and 1 basin , p 18d; 1 cask and 2 pots (wasa) and 1 chair, 2s; 3 tables with 2 pairs of trestles or 3s; 1 iron-shod cart with cords and harness pr 6s 8d; 1 plough with gear and 2 ploughs without gear pr 3s;; 2 harrows and 1 ladder pr. 12d; 1 wooden box and 1 cupboard (buffettum) 12d; a winnowing fan and a bushel measure bound with iron, a pick with shovel(s?) (tribula) and spades (bechii) pr 22d; 2 benches and 3 logs (ligna) lying in the grange of Ulewelle (?) 5s; 1 trough (augea) pr 2s; 1 mortar and 1 tripod pr 7d; 4 geese and 12 hens pr 3s; and in the mill 3 (?) bills (bili) and 1 corn-bin pr 18d; 1 mill-stone lying of little value , and another with the (?)stauchel (stancill) (stancillum) hanging; restoring also 22 acresof land sown with corn, 10 acres with rye , 31 acres with oats, 4 acres with peas, 1 acre with vetch ,and 2 with beans; and in addition 6 acres ploughed and lying fallow (warettata) for barley, and one mazer cup; the wardens to have the right to visit and inspect the manor annually and to eject the leasee in the event of the non-fulfillmenet of the terms of the lease.
